Eye Disorders

Conjunctivitis, Thermal Burns of the eye

The conjunctiva is the transparent membrane covering the inner surface of the eyelids and the front of the eyeball. Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of this membrane. Symptoms include pain, soreness and redeness of the eyes with tearing and aversion to bright light (photophobia).

Squint and diplopia

A squint (which is usually congenital ) is caused by inco-ordinated action of one or more muscles of the eyeball. A squint which appears in adult life is usually due to paralysis of one of the nervesnof teh eye muscles, due to damage, irritation or compression of that nerve. This type of squint results in double vision or dilopia. Dilopia may also rise dus to intracranial causes.

Retinitis

The lens of the eyeball focuses the images onto the retina, which forms part of the optic nerve. Inflammation of the retina, or retinitis can be caused by many diseases, e.g., kidney disorders, diabetes, hypertension, eclampsia, blood disorders and syphills. In this condition impairment of vision follows.

Cataract

CATARACT

Due to aging process, anybody of above 50 years can get cataract. But nowadays, even below 50 years has more chance of getting cataract. Once cataract sets in, the eyes becomes opaque unless this cataract is removed, one becomes blind.

Root Causes Of Cataract:

  • Lesser supply of energy to the eyes.
  • Damage in the optic nerve, or to Pituitary gland, when the eyes do not get enough nutrition
  • Slower function of the lymph gland, the removal of the toxins – carbons from the eyes becoming lesser and lesser.
  • When Diabetes continues for a long time, there is deficiency of glucose in the cerebrospinal fluid and the eyes do not get enough glucose to work efficiently and throw out the carbon.

Ophthalmoplegia

This is a paralysis affecting the extenal muscles of the eye.

Glaucoma

GLAUCOMA

When the eyes do not get proper energy, the muscles in the upper corner of the eyes or the end of the passage for letting out the transparent liquid of the eyes, get contracted and so the pressure in the liquid inside goes on increasing abnormally leading to severe headaches accompanied with nausea and vomiting and redness in the eyes. The vision is blurred and then retina is damaged.

Night Blindness

The primary cause of this condition is the deficiency of Vitamin A or its provitamins. The deficiency may be either dietitic or some disorder of metabolism and insufficiency of its formation. Vitamin A helps to produce visual purple (rhodopsin) carried in the rods of the retina which are sensitive to light.
